Registration Policy

Students applying for a WSET certified course must apply for full course including WSET examinations, except resit examinations. Students must be 18 years old or over. Applicants are required to read, agree with the Privacy and Data Protection Policy set by Hong Kong Institute of Wine and Beverage (HKIWB) and fill in the required personal information in order to successfully enrol on a WSET course.

Absence/Change of Teaching Sessions Policy

Should students require any changes of teaching sessions, the administration fee for the first three (3) sessions request is exempted (Absence of sessions is not accepted for WSET Level 1 courses.). After the first three (3) sessions and/or absence of teaching sessions without prior notice, an administration fee of HK$300 will be charged. HKIWB will make every effort to look for appropriate teaching sessions as make-up sessions but there is no guarantee.

Cancellations and Refunds Policy

Vacancies are allocated according to complete and valid application forms received by HKIWB. An application form without the full fee and proof of payment will be invalid and no course/examination booking will be confirmed until the full fee has been received.

Minimum numbers of fully paid students are required for a particular course to run. If on reaching the application deadline, there are insufficient students to run a particular course or programme, that course or programme will be rescheduled if possible, otherwise it will be cancelled and a full refund deducting the service fee charged by third-parties to HKIWB will be arranged for those students who have already paid. In case of the whole course being rescheduled, should you not be able to attend the rescheduled course you may transfer to another identical course organised by HKIWB in the future.

HKIWB endeavours not to make any changes, however reserves the right to change the published prices of its programmes or materials or cancel courses or examinations at any time.

For cancellation requests by students submitted before the cancellation deadline, HKIWB would charge a cancellation fee, cost of any materials supplied and service fee charged by third-parties to HKIWB. HKIWB would refund payment received, after deducting above cost. For cancellation requests made after cancellation deadline, before and after the start of event, HKIWB would not accept refund and all payment is non-refundable.

Cancellation deadlines:

Certificate course: 21 business days before course

Other events: within 7 calendar days after payment

The cost of Cancellation whenever applicable is 5% of payment fee and is subject to minimum of HK$100.

HKIWB will process the refund, by means of bank cheque, within 30 calendar days from the day of request by students or when the course is confirmed to be cancelled.

Exam Arrangement

All students, by default, will be registered for a place on the examination date(s) relating to that course. Any student who wishes to postpone their examination within thirty (30) days of the registered examination date will be charged the full re-sit fee.

Any changes to the registered examination date should be made at least thirty (30) days prior to the registered examination date. Each change of examination date will incur an administration fee of HK$400. Upon any postponement of the examination date, the examination must be completed within one year of the final session of the course.

Any absence from a candidate’s registered examination will result in the forfeiture of that candidate’s full examination fee. Registration for any subsequent examination will incur the full examination fee to be paid again in advance. There is a deadline of registration for every examination, payment must therefore be completed with payment proof provided before the registration deadline, and HKIWB will start to process the re-registration work after confirmation of payment. The re-registered examination must be taken within one year.

Candidates who are absent from their registered examination due to illness must inform HKIWB before the examination and provide medical proof (registered medical officer’s certificate or equivalent document) within three (3) working days of the examination date. Under such conditions, candidates will not need to pay the full examination fee again but will be charged a re-registration fee of HK$400 for a future examination date.

Transferral of Registration by the Student

Upon approval by HKIWB, students can transfer the registration to another potential student or another course, with an administration fee of HK$300.

HKIWB reserves the right to charge any materials supplied or any non-refundable service fee charged by third-parties, if these fees cannot be transferred to another student for free.
